The south main street train station can be found at 273 South Main Street. This train station used to be part of the B&O (Baltimore and Ohio) railroad.
There is still a train that goes past this historic site though it is no longer a train station. It has been remade into the washington county tourism promotion agency.
Across the street, sits an old train car on a piece of track that the train from this station used to move along with another section of the station that is now used for storage of supplies by another owner.
In addition to the beauty of the train station is the veterans walkway that runs between the train station and the tracks.
This walkway is a memorial and a sign of appreciation to the veterans of washington county that fought to keep our country free. It is installed in sections as veterans continue to come home safely.
