The Face on the Ballroom Floor

Winter 2015

As performed in the winter of 2015, "The Face on the Ballroom Floor" is a comedic work by Tim Kelly. Our star-crossed lovers, Madelaine Mockingbird and Jack Toulouse Goodhart, are ripped apart by the sinister schemes of a one Roderick Rodent. Madelaine, a chambermaid meant-to-be mute, is ripped from Jack by the schemes of a one free-wheeling and alluring Bella Yukon and Rodent. Jack, turned drunkard, and Madelaine, turned singer, part as Madelaine finds him drunkenly kissing Yukon.

Soon after Rodent offers to be her singing manager at the expense of all her money, Madelaine finds herself penniless (nickel-less and quarter-less too) having been bamboozled by Rodent. All characters end back at Annie Quackenbush's tavern for an ending surely to 'drag' you to the floor in laughter.

3 One Acts - Spring 2015

The Necklace

As a part of the Prexie Performers' Plan C: One Acts, "The Necklace" tells the tragic tale of Mathilde and Henri Loisel, a discontent middle class couple. Upon the visit of a wealthy friend, Madame Forrester, an invitation is delivered to the Loisels' for an upcoming ball. Forrester loans Mathilde a diamond necklace, or so Mathilde thinks, so our leading lady may go to the ball and fit in among the affluent guests.

Having the time of their lives, Mathilde and Henri return home, only to their chagrin to notice that the necklace is missing - lost forever! After avoiding Forrester and working their lives away for years to pay off their debts for a replacement necklace, a secret emerges that teaches a valuable lesson - honesty is always the best policy.

The Now

An original and award-winning play by Wash High alumnus, Daniel DiFabio, "Glad You're Here" pulls on your heartstrings with its sensitive and genuine take on chasing love, dreams, and passion. Hopeless alcoholic, Michael, has spent each night since his dad's funeral at the bar run by a man "quick with a joke, or to light up your smoke" named John. Sunken in desperation, Michael's life is forever changed when stranger Chloe Romaine walks in. Chloe and Michael instantly connect as if by fate, but will Michael win her heart and a life of happiness before she leaves again forever?

Glad You're Here

Wash High's Sasha Edwards's merited work "Glad You're Here" takes you into the world of Tony, a pizza shop worker who has selflessly taken on raising his little sister, Abby, and being the sole care taker to his elderly grandmother and schizophrenic mother. Everything is static and predictable until one day Tony's best friend, Brandon, asks Tony to move to Philadelphia with him. Tony is left with the impossible choice, as tragedy hits, to leave the family he loves for the sake of his own happiness or to stay for their sake but at the risk of wasting his youth. "Glad You're Here" is to be performed by the City Theatre in Pittsburgh this fall as a part of the Young Playwrights' Contest.
