Adobe Photoshop CC 2017 is a program I use to make thumbnails. An example is the banner art next to my logo. Many famous and professional video makers use this program for their video art and make it a nice program to learn.

Adobe Premiere has many video and sound effects to make any video look like a Hollywood movie. This program has a high learning curve and it is recommended to use more friendly programs before moving to Adobe Premiere. |
Elgato Game Capture HD is a program used for recording with an elgato. Whenever you plug the usb port into your computer and launch the program, it will launch as you see up top. This application manages your microphone settings, audio settings, and video settings. It is capable of taking screenshots and also record/stream. There are other options while using an elgato, but this one is the most user friendly and the best to start with. |
Sony Vegas is the other option for editing videos other than Adobe Premiere. This program is much more user friendly. If you have no experience editing videos, the learning curve from zero to Adobe Premiere is super high, while Sony Vegas is a good learning step. This will make Adobe Premiere much easier to learn. This and Adobe Premiere are the most used video editing programs on Youtube. |
Open Broadcaster Software is an all around stream/recording application on PC. This program is the most used by highly known streamers and video makers, but it requires a high knowledge of settings and how the application works. This program does not require an elgato to record or stream on and it is a good work around for anyone not willing to spend the money on an elgato. This program is completely free to use and is very good for any video makers out there who don't have the bucks. |
Audacity is a neat program that records any audio that you set in and can be exported as many different audio types. This program is the least necessary to have due to OBS being able to capture audio, as well as Elgato Game Capture HD, but it is a good backup if your audio messed up. |
