Street
Street is one of the more popular
forms of BMX freestyle. Street includes anything and everything you
encounter while riding in the streets. Some of the staples of street
biking are hand rails, gaps, and stair sets. More technical street tricks
include wall rides, manual tricks, and various types of stalls. Professional
street riders include: Van Homan, Garret Brynes, Josh Stricker and Garrett
Byrnes.

Park
Park is another popular form
of BMX freestyle. Park is simply biking at a skatepark. Park biking
includes ledges, ramps, boxes, quarter pipes and anything else the particular
park has to offer. Many street riders also ride park because it is somewhat
similar to street. Professional park bikers include: Allistar Whitton,
Seth Kimbrough, Ryan Barret and Kevin Porter.

Vert
Vert biking isn't the most popular
style but is probably one of the more difficult. Vert biking is done
on a half pipe (vert ramp) and includes many spin and flip tricks. It
is also common to see vert riders link flips and spins into one trick
such as a 360 backflip. The most famous BMX riders are vert riders and
include: Dave Mirra, Matt Hoffman, and Kevin Robinson.

Dirt
Dirt BMX is not as popular as
street because of the lack of places to ride dirt. To make a dirt spot
you have to dig up dirt and shape it into jumps. This process can be
explained in the Building Trails section. In dirt BMX the jumps usually
flow so you land one jump and go right into another so it takes a quick
mind or a pre planned run to be a good dirt rider. Also many dirt jumps
have a landing ramp That means that there is a gap that you have to
clear to hit the jump successfully. There is little room for error.
If you don't clear the jump the results could be bad depending on the
sizse of the jump and the gap size. Pro dirt riders include: Chris Doyle,
Corey Bohan, Cory "Nasty" Nastazio, and Mike Aitke.

Flatland
Flatland is probably
the most uncommon style of freestyle BMX. Flatland consists of various
one-wheeled flatground spin tricks and grabs. All flatland bikes are
very light and have large pegs with rubber grips making them useless
for grinds but perfect for flatland peg grabs. Pro flatland riders include:
Chad de Groot, Martti Kuoppa, and Paul Osika.
