Washington High School Wrestling Program Overview

There were 9 members on the team. The team had members varying from 9th to 12th grade. The teams record in duel meets were 2-10. We lost by 4 points in the Avella match and 2 points in the Jeannette match. The team only filled up 7 out of the 14 spots so we had to give up 6 points each time the other team had a wrestler in the spots we didn't. The team placed 13th out of 22 teams in the West Mifflin Tournament, but stayed in the top 10 for most of the tournament.
Individual Results
Leon Harris, Sr. (126/132):
Currently holds an 8-8 record in one of the WPIAL's toughest weight classes. He started wrestling in 9th grade, and improved greatly since his first year. Leon has a strong chance of qualifying for the WPIALs this year.
J.D. Reilly, Sr. (132):
J.D. began wrestling in 9th grade and placed 4th at the Brooke Tournament. He is currently ranked in the top 5 of his class and is an active member of NHS. Last season, J.D. lost in the match for the final qualifying spot for the WPIAL Tournament, and looks to improve upon that in his senior year.
George Rogers, So. (138):
George is currently 19-4 and is the 3rd ranked 138 lb. wrestler in WPIAL AA by the Observer-Reporter. He placed 1st at the Brooke Tournament, 2nd at the West Mifflin Tournament, 3rd at the TRICADA Tournament, and 2nd at the Burgettstown Tournament. He is on pace to become the first Prexie wrestler with 100 career victories in nearly a decade.
Dalton Fonner, So. (145):
Dalton began wrestling in 8th grade in our Junior High Wrestling Club and has continued to improve. This season, Dalton nearly defeated 2 O-R top 3 ranked opponents.
Everett Main, So. (145):
Everett has continued to improve throughout his 2 year varsity career and earned two varsity wins this year.
Shawn Hughes, So. (152):
Shawn began wrestling in 8th grade in our Junior High Wrestling Club. Shawn only had 3 varsity wins last season. He is currently 11-11 with 10 pins. He won the Brooke Tournament while wrestling up a weight class at 160 and took 6th at the West Mifflin Tournament. Shawn is a serious contender to advance to the WPIAL Tournament this season.
Elijiah Ellerman, Jr. (160):
Elijiah began wrestling in 8th grade in our Junior High Wrestling Club. Elijiah has been the "team-player" this year, as he has gained weight or bumped up a weight class in order to get a much needed win for his team, whenever he has been called upon to do so. He has a strong shot at qualifying for the WPIAL tournament at 160.
Keirs Gloady, Fr. (285):
Keirs has had an opportunity to fill in when needed due to injury and illness and has continued to improve.
James Baughman, Sr. (285):
"Cookie" is currently just under .500 for the season and has fought through injury and illness. Last season, his first year wrestling, he qualified for the WPIAL Tournament and looks to do so again this season.
