Who is Astralis

Astralis comes from the past of a squad who was traded by different organizations before they were left without one. Being a team with high skill, they had invitations to tournaments, but without a team name to represent. The squad decided to stop searching for an organization and make their own player-owned company dubbed Astralis.

Home Country

Astralis represents the country of Denmark, with a handful of other pro and semi-pro teams emerging from Denmark after them. Every member from Astralis originates from Denmark and is there to stay. Other teams that represent Denmark include: Heroic, Team X, North, Team Denmark, Dignitas, über G33KZ, and Copenhagen Wolves.

Recent Showing

The last event Astralis has been a part of was the ELEAGUE Major Tournament in Atlanta, Georgia. This was the second Major in the United States, and the first Major hosted by ELEAGUE. After a struggling group stage, Astralis found their footing and fought their way into the playoffs. Then, taking out the fan favorites Na`Vi in the quaterfinals, then Fnatic in the semi's; it was time to fight the final boss, Virtus.Pro. Both teams gave their all, taking the match to a third map, with Astralis coming on top, winning their first Major and $500,000.

The Players

Name: Lukas "gla1ve" Rossander
Age: 21 years old
From: Copenhagen, Denmark
Role: In-game Leader
Summary: gla1ve was a stand-in for Astralis' Kjærbye during the ESL ONE: Cologne 2016 major because of implications with Kjærbye qualifying with another team to earn a spot in the major. During the course of that major, dupreeh has to get surgery on his stomach, so coach zonic took his place. After Cologne, gla1ve made his own team, Team X (now dubbed Heroic) for several months before returning to Astralis to replace former in-game leader karrigan. So far, gla1ve has brought his team to victory in three seperate tournaments since last November, including Astralis' first major tournament: ELEAGUE Major.

Name: Andreas "Xyp9x" Højsleth
Age: 21 years old
From: Aars, Denmark
Role: Support
Summary: xyp9x have been on the same team as dev1ce and dupreeh since late 2013 with Copenhagen Wolves. Ever since he started, he has been the support of the team, and known to clutch in many 1vXs. xyp9x is called the best support in the game, constantly looking out for his teammates and doing whatever his IGL tells him to secure the win. It's very hard to accomplish what this player is capable of.

Name: Markus "Kjaerbye" Kjærbye
Age: 18 years old
From: Frederiksberg, Denmark
Role: Rifer
Summary: Kjaerbye is dubbed "Wonderboy" for a specific reason, he's a legend. Kjaerbye started playing in international tournaments when he was only 16 years old, that's very young for an international player in any competitive event. Joining later than the rest, Kjaerbye was brought onto Dignitas in the beginning of 2015 after dev1ce, dupreeh and xyp9x were traded to TSM. He stayed with Dignitas even after Astralis was born, until there were problems with former Astralis teammate "cajunb". Kjaerbye and cajunb swapped teams shortly after the qualifiers for the Cologne 2016 Major. This led to more problems as Kjaerbye qualified for the major with Dignitas, but then was moved to Astralis, which for the rulebook was illegal. Kjaerbye was ineligible to play for Astralis during that major, so Astralis had to play with a replacement. This past major, ELEAGUE 2017, Astralis won the grand final and Kjaerbye was named the MVP of the tournament, with stats beating out anyone else in the tournament.

Name: Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen
Age: 23 years old
From: Copenhagen, Denmark
Role: Entry
Summary: Being top 20 in the world for three years in a row isn't that bad. dupreeh's roots start off with dev1ce and xyp9x on Copenhagen Wolves for the majority of 2013. The professional CS:GO world got a rude awakening when dupreeh hit the big stage, starting off in 2013 and going to 2015, dupreeh has secured his spot as one of the best of the best; and he keeps giving more. In recent tournaments, you can count on dupreeh to deliver in the rounds that his team needs to keep pressing on. Entry fragging is what dupreeh does to open up things for his team, securing that first kill to gain an advantage in the round and gain momentum in the game.

Name: Nicolai "dev1ce" Reedtz
Age: 21 years old
From: Vejle, Denmark
Role: AWP'er
Summary: When someone asks who has improved the most in their career; one name usually is said, dev1ce. In 2014, he was ranked 20 in the world for the HLTV Top 20 Players of 2014, which isn't bad. In 2015 however, he was ranked as #3 in the world! That's an improvement. He has retained that status for 2016 too, being third in the world again. dev1ce is the star player for Astralis, taking flashy plays to a new level with his talent. Pleasing the fans with plays like that is what dev1ce is about; although more than that, he has a drive to win. In ELEAGUE 2017, dev1ce held his team up in the group stage and the majority of the playoffs, but fell off in the finals most likely due to pressure. Even though he didn't hold the team on his back during the finals, they pressed on and fought their way to victory together.
