Jazz is a music genre that originated in the African-American communities of New Orleans, United States, in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and developed from roots in blues and ragtime. While Jazz is the name of the genre there are many sub-genres of jazz such as funk, fusion, latin, swing, and many others. Jazz contunually changes with the times much like a living thing which is why many people all over the world enjoy listening to jazz music and study the history of the genre.
