• Art
  
  1 Semester, 0.5 Credit, Grade Level: 9,10
  
  This course provides a beginners look at art. You will demonstrate basic drawing and painting techniques using line, color, shape and texture.
  
  You will be able to use said techniques to create drawings with pastel, pencil, charcoal and pen and ink.
  
  This class will also introduce beginning calligraphy and art history, including the many masters of the art world.
  
  
• Advanced Art
  
  1 Year, 1 Credit, Grade Level: 11,12
  
  This course is for the art student who wants to explore their inner artistic talents and focus on possible job choices such as an architect, fashion designer, graphic designer, teacher, interior design, sculptor, comic book/book illustrator, etc.
  
  The skills that will be explored are: figure drawing, painting, mixed media, plaster, foam, sculpey, clay, shading and many more.
  
  Juniors and seniors could possibly be looking to advance their abilities and build a portfolio for their journey after high school.
  
  During the fulfilling time in this course, the student will be guided by the teacher to work on skill building and the development of a possible career choice.
  
  Juniors and seniors will be able to create a visual journal. Seniors will be able to participate in a group instillation piece in the high school and middle school.
  
  

1. Drawing - In the drawing portion of the art course students will learn a variety of skills that involve basic drawing techniques using line, color, shape and texture.
   
   You will be able to use these skills to create drawings using a variety of tools including: pastel, pencil, charcoal and pen and ink.
   
   Projects that students will be responsible for include: self portrait, figure drawing, perspective drawing and wild-life drawing.
   
   
   
2. Painting - In the painting portion of the art course students will learn a variety of different painting techniques that include brush strokes, drying, glazing and pouring.
   
   Students will use different brushes and paints to create paintings varying on project. Students may paint humans, animals, nature or even something made with their imagination.
   
   Projects students will be responsible for include: acrylic paintings and watercolor paintings.
   
   
   
3. Sculpting - In the sculpting portion of the art course students will learn about the different materials and methods used to sculpt.
   
   Students will use materials including wood, super sculpey, junk and clay to make sculptures of different sizes.
   
   Projects students will be responsible for include: Coil pots, basic wood carving sculptures, junk sculptures, super sculpey sculptures and clay sculptures.
   
   
   
4. Graphic Design - In the graphic design portion of the art course students will learn about the basics of graphic design. Students will work with drawn, painted or photographed images.
   
   Students will be responsible for different projects throughout the graphic design portion. The projects include: magazine design, album covers, advertisement designs, symbols, logos and logotypes
