Ferris Bueller's Day Off

By London Bogden

"Ferris Bueller you're my hero."

Set in the late 1980s, Ferris Bueller's Day Off follows the adventures of a zany teen, his girlfriend, and his bestfriend who are determined to skip school despite what their principal has to say about it. Ferris's overzealous fans at school hear he is sick, and make note to tell him how important he is to them. Meanwhile, Ferris's sister is well aware of his wise guy anecdotes and is determined to catch him in the act to ruin his perfect reputation with their parents. Ferris's day off is full of scheming plans, spontaneity, and bad luck; but to Ferris, that is just an average day.

Traveling Back 30 Years

When the movie first premiered in 1986, it became an instant success and had a critically acclaimed status. Teenagers were among the vast majority of its fan base because its message spoke directly to their generational woes. It was a comedic film with an important underlying message of finding the joy in life, because as Ferris says, "Life moves pretty fast; if you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it!"
