Friday Night Tykes Season 1

By Kurt Adkins

What did the first season of Friday Night Tykes entail?

In the first season of tyke football there were many trials and tribulations for every team in TYFA (Texas Youth Football League). The Outlaws organization saw success and ultimately was able to take home a state championship. The San Antonio Colts entered the playoffs with only one loss and were able to make a deep run until the Outlaws stopped them cold and ended all hopes for a repeat championship like the year before. Off of the field drama like the suspension of Colts coach Marecus Goodloe for comments made to his players left viewers stunned and wondering whether football was too dangerous for children that are only 8 or 9 years old...

Where will "Steel Country", the impending 4th season of tykes take us?

As Season 3 of Friday Night Tykes begins to wind down it begs the question where will the series go next? After almost 3 successful seasons of following TYFA, changes will be made to keep viewers interested. It was recently revealed that the 4th season of Tykes will be placed in Western PA where "Steel Country" will take place. The new league is the Beaver county football league and it consists of teams such as the Aliquippa L'il Quips, the Beaver Falls Tigers, the Monaca L'il Indians, Blackhawk Cougars, Ambridge L'il Bridgers and the Central Valley Warriors.

The 4th season promises to be an interesting change of pace. Those that live in the Pittsburgh area know some of these teams on a personal level, and some have even played these teams in either high school or youth football. The move from Texas to Pennsylvania won't change the killer football mentality, PA is known for its prominent players and teams at higher levels. And everywhere that football is important to a community, controversy is not far behind. The announcement of this series proves to be an exciting date to look forward too as Friday night Tykes fans finish up season 3 and dive into season 4 for more great youth football action!
